The next diet we all tried at the job I hated was the 3 Day Diet. Supposedly, this plan was scientifically created for the ways the foods interacted with each other and you had to follow it to the letter. No deviations!

Day 1

Breakfast
Black coffee or tea
1/2 Grapefruit
1 slice toast
2 T. peanut butter

Lunch
1/2 cup of tuna (no mayo)
1 slice toast
Coffee or tea

Dinner
2 slices of any meat
1 cup string beans
1 cup beets
1 apple
1 cup vanilla ice cream

Day 2

Breakfast
1 egg
1/2 banana
1 slice toast
Black coffee or tea

Lunch
1 cup cottage cheese
5 saltine crackers

Dinner
2 hotdogs (no buns)
1 cup broccoli
1/2 cup carrots
The other 1/2 banana from breakfast (keep in plastic sealed baggie for the least amount of browning)
1/2 cup vanilla ice cream

Day 3

Breakfast
5 saltine crackers
1 slice cheddar cheese
1 apple
Black coffee or tea

Lunch
1 hard boiled egg
1 slice toast

Dinner
1 cup tuna
1 cup beets
1 cup cauliflower
1/2 canteloupe
1/2 cup vanilla ice cream

Supposedly, you could lose at least 3 pounds, although I thought I remember an even higher amount suggested after just the 3 days. It also said to eat normal foods after the 3 days but not to overdo it. After 4 days of normal eating, start back on the “3 Day Diet.” Another suggestion was that with a continued regimen like this you could lose 30 lbs. in 40 days!

I hate beets. I’ve tried all kinds. So I stuck on this diet and ate beets and I can’t remember if I even lost 3 lbs. but I don’t think I did. So for me to have to eat beets for a very minimal (if any) loss wasn’t worth it to me. However, I think I tried this a second time at some point in my life just to see if it would work. Again, I didn’t see much of a loss. I will admit I only did it for 3 days each attempt.
